Unicorn Journal Page / Pop-up with Tag and Hidden Butterfly

Unicorn Journal Page / Pop-up with Tag and Hidden Butterfly. For this page I have made my own butterfly embellishment and altered some daisy ribbon to made it stand out more. This post does not show how to create the pop-up as the instructions for this are in my other post, Clara from the Nutcracker Pop-up Card.

The beauty of the Stamperia Wonderland paper is that there is no need to over-embellish as the paper already has quite a lot going on. For this page, I knew I wanted a pop-up unicorn and luckily there was an element in the pack which I could cut out. There was also some text, Imagination, which I cut out and adhered to some card. To make it stand out more, I edge it with some copper / gold gilding paste. I also adhered the tag element to some card, cut it out and edged it with the same paste.

Once I had all the embellishments I needed, I made the pop-up. I then glued used some foam tape to stick the sentiment to the top of the card and then used a brad to attach the tag.

I wanted to have a hidden surprise underneath the tag, so after some trial and error, I used a butterfly die to cut out the butterfly in some of the spare off-cuts of paper. It looked a bit bland so I edged it with the copper / gold paste to make it stand out. As a finishing touch, I found some vintage diamante and used it for the butterfly body. I absolutely loved the result. It made all the difference.

The right-hand corner, above the unicorn, needed some embellishment, so I used some white daisy ribbon.  Again, it looked a bit bland so I adhered some flat back, pale turquoise pearls to the center and it was immediately transformed into something very special.
