I made this primitive house with peg doll using the medium MDF house shrine from Calico Craft Parts. I’m not affiliated with this company but I’ve bought quite a few of their MDF items. This is the first one I have got around to doing anything with and I was quite pleased with the outcome of my first attempt.
I made a “front” for the house as I wanted it to open up to reveal the peg doll inside.
I decorated it with Stamperia “Patchwork” scrapbook paper, an MDF window and door and some lace. The window and door were also bought from Calico Craft Parts and I painted them with Tim Holtz Distress Paint and normal acrylic paint.I made the flower “button” with a diecut and attached it with a brad. It is strong enough to open and close but it is made of card so I wouldn’t advise doing it too often.
I decorated the sides of the house with some of the floral pages from the Stamperia “Patchwork”.
I wanted the house to have a purpose. This picture shows the back and the front. The back has a pocket which holds a house shape tag. Again the house tag is from the “Patchwork” pad
This is the little tag I made. It has a secret. It is also a pop-up, and a very small one. This allows it to free-stand.
I fussy cut the little bird from one of the “Patchwork” pages. It was the perfect size for this tag.
This images shows the inside of the primitive house. As you can see it reveals a peg doll or clothespin doll
The fold down flap reveals a heart and message “For You”
This shows the inside of the house when the peg doll is outside
Perfect for storing small items
This is the peg doll.
I painted her features and gave her a paper skirt. I finished her by adding some embellishments and an MDF dragonfly wings
I have listed this item on Etsy so if you’re interested please follow the Etsy link. My next project will be an altered Alice in Wonderland Punch and Judy stand so please keep visiting.
