Frosty and the Fairies Giant Shaker Card Walk Through

Frosty and the Fairies Giant Shaker Card Walk Through. This is another mingle which I managed to enter for a Lavinia Stamps competition.

For the mingle we were expected to make a 4″ x 6″ card and use the following steps.

  1. A Snowman
  2. Torn Paper
  3. Book Page
  4. Blue
  5. Texture Paste
  6. Splatters

This was the perfect project for using some Dies which I got for Christmas so the first step was to cut out all the pieces I needed. I cut stars, snowflake and snowman dies from Pearlescent white card on my Big Shot Die Cutter. For the trees I used part of a Build a Scene dies and adhered a book page to brown cardstock before cutting.

Once this was done I made the background. I used 300 gms Water Colour Paper and Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Oxide. The colours I used were Spun Sugar Distress Ink and Broken China and Faded Jeans in Distress Oxide. I also used some Brusho SprinkleIT Pearl which I then splattered with water and dried using a heat gun. For the moon I used a circle stencil with texture paste.

I used torn white photocopy paper for the snow which I glued on. It had some wrinkles but they ran in the direction of the snow so I used glitter paste to highlight them. I then stamped the small fairies from Lavinia Stamps and used a white glue to stick on the trees.

Once the background was completed I rimmed the edges with two layers of foam tape. I used two layers because I wanted a deeper card so that I could put some larger beads in.  I mixed size 15 seed beads with some larger beads. I then put on the frame.  Instead of using acetate, I used the plastic container which the dies came in. I find that they are stiffer and sturdier than acetate and a good way to recycle them. I used a frame die to cut the middle of a 6″ x 4″ piece of pearlescent white card and mounted this onto the clear plastic. I then decorated with diecut snow flakes, stars, icicles and the snowman. The snowman’s hat was cut from black craft foam to give a different texture.

That’s all for this post. I hope you like it and will return soon.
