Altered Tin – A Fairy’s Life is a Bed of Roses. This altered tin was inspired by a Tic Tac Toe challenge and also Valentine’s Day which isn’t far away. The challenge I chose was the line Flowers, Ribbon / Twine and Pink. I have also entered it for Crafty Hazlenut’s Patterned Paper and The Fairy and the Unicorn Challengechallenge.
For this project I used a gold colored, heart-shaped tin. I used some left over Stamperia paper from my previous altered tin. I’m not normally too keen on my handwriting but I wanted to give it that handwritten look, so I took the bull by the horns and wrote a sentiment which reads “A Fairy’s Life is a bed of roses.” The reasons for that sentiment will become clear soon.
I finished the top with a single pink mulberry paper rose
On the inside of the lid I used some more of the left over paper as a backing. I then fussy-cut some toadstools from some Graphics 45 paper and layered them to give a 3D effect. I finished with another hand written sentiment which reads “Beware, Fairies Sleeping”. Any idea yet what might be in the base of the tin? Please carry on reading to find out.
And, here they are. The fairies sleeping on a bed of mulberry roses and faux lichen, as well as some more left over Stamperia paper.
Just to show the inside lid and base together, to give a better perspective of the whole project.
For the final touch, I used this beautiful lacy ribbon / twine which allows the beautiful gold color of the tin to show through but gives an organic texture more suitable for fairies in their natural habitat.
And there we have it. Pink roses which covers both the color and the flower aspect of the challenge and the ribbon twine, which covers the ribbon / twine aspect. I hope you enjoyed this project. Hopefully it won’t be long before my next one.
