Altered Tin – Alice in Steampunk Land. This tin is my latest swap. It is the first time I have made an altered tin so there are a few little errors. For this I used a tutorial at Scribbling Wand. I changed some things as I wanted to do a Steampunk theme.
For the inside I used the blank templates for the inside back and front. I also used the floral piece marked d and e as a template. Instead of using the pattern which comes with the template, I used the same rectangle but cut it out of scrapbook paper. For this project I used Graphics 45 Alice in Halloween Land.
I didn’t use the side templates as there didn’t seem to be a need for this project. That is something I will try later. I used a blank altoid size tin with a window in the lid rather than the one used in the tutorial. I wanted to use the window as a feature so before gluing the inside top, I printed out “Alice in Steampunk Land” onto some plain paper and stuck it to the back of the inside lid cut-out. (Hope that makes sense).
I fussy cut the white rabbit and instead of using the wings, which were in the tutorial, I made some tabs. I also cut out some gears to add to the pop-up.
Once the inside was completed, I decorated the outside edges and the top with some of the Graphics 45 paper. To finish I used antique black lace from my stash and bling on a roll.
